Wilson Brothers Racing and Lee Castle are looking to continuing on their winning form at the opening round of the Australian Manufacturers Championship (AMC) this weekend at Wakefield Park, with their Subaru WRX Sti primed to take on the vastly improved competition.
Castle won the final two rounds of the 2008 AMC at Symmons Plains and Sandown en route to winning the John Bowe Drivers Championship and the Class A Championship.
An unlucky run at the Bathurst 12 Hour has left the crew more determined than ever for a strong showing in the AMC.
A pumped up Castle can’t wait to get back behind the wheel this weekend.
“I’m really looking forward to returning in the Wilson Brothers Racing Suabru WRX Sti, we had really good pace last year, and it will be good to prove that against the strong opposition in class A and B this weekend,” said Castle.
“Despite having a disappointing run at Bathurst, we know that we have improved the car since Sandown, and I think Wakefield Park will suit the Subaru.
“Racing against more Mitsubishi Evos will be a challenge, as will the five HSVs, Garry Holt in the BMW and Chris Delfsma in the FPV.”
For team principal Cameron Wilson, the opening round of the AMC marks the start of another busy season.
“For Wilson Brothers Racing, we are really looking at getting back on track, and it should be a good meeting against such strong competition,” said Wilson.
“Lee has the ability to mix it with the best of them, and we look forward to seeing him get back into his winning ways from 2008.
“Of course rebuilding back up after Bathurst would not be possible if it wasn’t for the help from our sponsors in Castrol, Mercury Motorsport, MRT, Ecutek and Ingear Industries.”
The opening round of the AMC kicks off with three sprint races over the course of the weekend.
